The Accra Street Journal (ASJ), a digital news platform founded in Accra, Ghana, has announced a partnership with Kofikrom Pharmacy Ltd to raise awareness about health issues affecting people at the street and community level. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving access to accurate health information and addressing the realities that everyday Ghanaians face.
Health challenges in Ghana are not confined to hospitals and clinics. From street food vendors to market women and informal workers, the streets of Accra reflect a complex web of public health realities. Issues such as sanitation, access to affordable medicines, non-communicable diseases, and reproductive health remain part of daily conversations, yet often receive limited attention in national policy discussions.
In response, Accra Street Journal, founded by Samuel Kwame Boadu, has made street-level reporting on health and lifestyle a central part of its mission. “When we launched ASJ in February 2025, our vision was to give a voice to the everyday Ghanaian,” said Boadu, Founder and Editor-in-Chief. “By partnering with Kofikrom Pharmacy Ltd, we aim to ensure that credible, fact-based health information reaches the people who need it most.”
As part of the collaboration, ASJ will produce special reports, interviews, and editorials on pressing health issues on their category named “Accra Health Journal“, while Kofikrom Pharmacy will provide expert insights and medical knowledge to support public awareness campaigns.
“Street health is community health,” noted Samuel. “From nutrition and hygiene to mental health and chronic conditions, the challenges faced on Ghana’s streets affect the entire nation. By spotlighting these realities, we hope to empower both policymakers and individuals to take action.”
Kofikrom Pharmacy, a leading pharmaceutical distributor in Ghana, welcomed the partnership as an extension of its corporate social responsibility agenda. The company emphasized its commitment to public health education, quality medicine accessibility, and community engagement.
Together, the two organizations believe this collaboration will help bridge the gap between medical expertise and public understanding, while also challenging the stigma and misinformation that often surround health issues in Ghana.
Accra Street Journal, a subsidiary of SamBoad Publishing and SamBoad Business Group Ltd, publishes across business, governance, culture, lifestyle, and health, with a commitment to editorial independence, transparency, and fact-based reporting.
Through this partnership, both ASJ and Kofikrom aim to highlight the urgent need for inclusive health policies that recognize the realities of Ghana’s streets — where public health is lived every day.
