The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) has named Pharm. Kofi Addo-Agyekum of Kofikrom Pharmacy Ltd, as the Chairman for the Greater Accra Armwrestling Association for an interim term of two (2) years.

His term will end in December 2019.

Pharm. Kofi Addo-Agyekum whose love and attraction for the sports dates back to its introduction in Ghana, has been a key investor in the development and expansion of the sport.

He would head a seven member team that will be responsible for the Development and Promotion of Armwrestling in Schools, Communities and the entire Region, sanctioning and managing of Armwrestling Activities.

He will also supervise the formation of Armwrestling clubs, institution of a Regional Armwrestling League, soliciting support for development as well as engaging developing partners.

A statement from GAF said they will also supervise of annual Regional Congress.

Other members of the Gt. Accra Association are Mr. Kwabena Owusu Sekyere (Businessman) – Vice Chairman, Mr. Charles Binney (Connect Consult) – Secretary, Mr. Samuel Kwadadey Yirenkyi( Multimedia Group Ltd), Prof Reginald Ocansey (Head, Physical Education Unit-Legon), Hon. Mikki Osei Berko (Media Gold), ASP Daniel Boateng (Ghana Police Service) as members.

The executives have also been mandated to organise an elective Congress in December 2019 which will give way to a substantive four year term by elected officers of the Association.

The move is line with the mandate granted the GAF, by the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Youth & Sports to spread and expand the developmental activities and programmes to every corner of this country.

“We have wholeheartedly accepted the challenge and therefore do not intend to be an Accra based federation but rather stretch our tentacles to all the 10 regions of Ghana,” Charles Osei Asibey, Head of GAF said.

The GAF last month named the Ashanti Regional Armwrestling Association and will do same for all 10 regions in the coming weeks.

Armwrestling, the easiest to play and fastest growing sport in Ghana will soon outdoor it’s strategic and development plan.
