Mathew Vicuba, the winner of the maiden Kwahu Easter mountain marathon, would have the opportunity to participate in the 2018 edition of the Berlin Marathon in September.
This was disclosed by the organizers of the competition – Kwahu Traditional Council (KTC) and Medivent Consult, during the presentation of prizes to the winners of the competition.
The 31 kilometer marathon, which started at Nkawkaw Goil filling station and ended at the Omanhene Palace in Abene, forms part of activities for the Easter.
A 22 year old Vikuba Mathew, a student of the Cape Coast University and an employee of the Ghana National Fire Service won in the male category as Precious Nyarba, a 16 year old student of Buokrom Junior High School ‘A’ in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region won the female category.
The keenly contested marathon, which had the athletes passing through Nkawkaw, Mpraeso, Odwen, Abetifi, Akwatia, through to Atibea and ended at Abene saw Ismael Arthur, William Amponsah, Ayamga Jonas and Seidu Salifu making up for 2nd to 5th respectively in the male category.
The marathon, which saw winners taking home attractive prices like 32 inch Television set, Table top fridge, Home Theater, StarTimes decoder and dishes, Goil products and other assorted prices was sponsored by oil giant Goil, Kofikrom Pharmacy producers of K-Balm ointment, StarTimes Ghana, Mr Tours Ticket Travel and Tours, Mafa Media and Sportsnetghana.com
